Did you ever wondered how can someone feel when getting a cancer diagnosis, no matter which type of cancer are we referring at? It can be great shock for anyone, mostly if you did not see that thing coming. From here another question can be formed, why are people so afraid of cancer?

We are not shocked at all when a doctor tells us that we have flu or a lack of calcium in our bodies. And the answer probably is that these diseases can be cured quite rapidly, but others can, such as colon cancer can not.

There is not a cure for colon cancer when it is in an advanced stage. Of course, surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy can be administrated with the purpose to treat cancer, but they do not offer a guarantee that you will survive the disease. These treatments are different for every patient and they depend also on the stage of the cancer.

On the other hand, colon cancer is the most treatable type of cancer if it is diagnosed in the first stages, but it is also one of the most difficult to cure ones when it is discovered in the last phase of its evolution. But to be able to discover the cancer as early as it was formed, you have to know which are the main symptoms of this disease. And one of the biggest problems about colon cancer is that there are no symptoms in the first stages, at least in most cases.

However, the signs of colon cancer are going to include at first diarrhea, constipation and changes in the bowel habits. Pain and abdominal discomfort, associated with excessive gas can also indicate the forming and presence of colon cancer. When cancer grows and passes the colon wall affecting nearby tissues, symptoms are going to include tiredness, nausea and vomiting.

Depending on the organs affected, the signs of colon cancer will vary. For example, if the lungs are affected with secondary tumors, named metastasis, an individual will have problems breathing. In general, the organs that are most affected by metastatic colon cancer are the liver, the lungs and the bones.

Knowing what are the signs of colon cancer is very important to be able to diagnose the disease in time for it to still be curable. And colon cancer can be a frightening disease for every individual if you just think about the fact that only 8 percent of those diagnosed in the end stage of colon cancer survive it. And unfortunately, the most diagnoses are made in this stage because of the lack of symptoms, of the presence of some sings that can easily be associated with other diseases.
