What do you eat when you are suffering of colon cancer? - Most of the people who are suffering of this terrible diseases have a lot of questions about their nutrition and diet on this terrible period in their life. It is very important to have a specific and controlled diet for now one but only to feel better and stronger and not to stop cancer. There isn’t any food in the world that could cure cancer but there is that could prevent one.



The most important thing in your diet during your cancer is to eat right, getting enough calories and fat that you don’t loose weight and stay strong. In this period of time you will need a lot of energy and strength to face chemotherapy and other treatments to make you better.


Sometimes a good and strong meal can be difficult to be eaten especially after you’ve been to chemotherapy and you’re feeling weak and tired. But you have to know that you’re doing this because you are strong and you want to fight against cancer even if you’re having poor appetite and you’re feeling nausea as a side effect of the strong treatment. To know what to eat and what can do good and what can be bad the best thing to do is to consult with a nutritionist because some food could contribute to the development of cancer and others can help you feel better and even can prevent other diseases like a cardiovascular one or a stroke.

The most important thing in your diet is to reduce all the total fat and the saturated fat from your diet. This thing is important because the tumor can grow when they are receiving proteins which came from the fat. So a diet free from fat can reduce the tumors cells of growing. So first thing you should do is to keep your daily fat up to 20 percent of your total calories per day so if a normal human eats around 2500 calories per day you should eat approximately 55 grams of fat per day.

But to be clear there are 2 kinds of fat on the market: the right one which is very good to the organism and it can even reduce the risk of making cancer. This kind of fat is founded in plant foods such as vegetables and they are called unsaturated fats. These good fats can even come from vegetables oils like olive or seafood especially salmon or tuna. These fishes are very good for the organism because besides they have good fats they also have a very good vitamin which is called omega 3. Studies show that omega 3 is very good for heart diseases but it can even have anticancer properties.

Some examples of saturated fats are coconut oil or sun flower oil. You must avoid all the hydrogenated fats which are known to be carcinogenic so for this time now you must read the food labels if you see that any food contains hydrogenated fats or even partially you most avoid it.

    coconut oil is no longer considered a hydrogenated fat in fact it has many medicinal properties and is now considered a healthful and tasty alternative, even dr Oz is using and touting it's benefits so I believe this is a little outdated info
